Our Passion for Shepherds

Uinta Mountain Shepherds is a small, family-run breeding program based in Kamas, Utah, often known as the gateway to the Uinta Mountains. Surrounded by open landscapes and a strong connection to the outdoors, it’s a unique place to raise both a family and dogs.

Our journey began four years ago with our first German Shepherd, Koda, an American-line shepherd who quickly became a valued part of our family. She sparked our appreciation for the intelligence, loyalty, and versatility of the breed and helped shape the foundation of our program. From there, our focus naturally evolved toward carefully selected European bloodlines with proven pedigrees, health testing, and working ability.

Today, our dogs come from strong imported lines with internationally recognized registrations and are AKC registered in the United States, allowing us to continue building a program centered on health, temperament, and the defining qualities of the German Shepherd.

How We Raise Our Puppies

Our puppies are raised in a hands-on, structured environment focused on early development, stability, and real-world adaptability.

From the first days of life, each puppy is introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI). These early exercises support neurological development, confidence, and the ability to adapt to new environments and mild stress as they mature.

As the puppies grow, they are gradually introduced to new surfaces, sounds, and environments to build confidence and awareness. We incorporate daily handling, early socialization, and exposure to everyday stimuli to help develop clear-headed, adaptable dogs.

Our goal is to produce well-rounded German Shepherds that are not only capable and trainable, but also stable and reliable in a home environment. Each puppy is raised with intention, creating a strong foundation for both working potential and life as a companion.
